Digitized letter from Green Fisher to Bill and Mead (?), dated September 15, 1864. In the letter Fisher describes the pens that the Confederate POWs are being held in Chattanooga, and extensively discusses if George should enlist before he is drafted, and if he could possibly join "this" battery where he might not see too many campaigns.
At the top of the letter, written in ink in a contemporary hand, is "Soldiers letters Fisher".
Note: A Greenleaf Fisher served in the 1st Regiment, Ohio Light Artillery which saw action in Chattanooga and Chickamauga.
