Description Drawing - "The Chattanooga Water Works, 1863." Two men at river's edge. One is an African American solider carrying water. The other man sitting in a horse-drawn wagon with kegs in back. Artist - Theodore R. Davis.

During the Civil War, Davis sketched in Chattanooga for Harper's Weekly. He returned again in the 1890s, resketching the same areas.
