Digitized letter and envelope:
a) This is a four page letter from M.G. Lawrence to his mother, describing his time at a camp outside of Atlanta Georgia. He speaks about his failing health and how he was examined by the medical board for his papers of resignation. He mentions some of the battles that some of the other soldiers have recently fought in and that these soldiers bring word that the Rebel forces are discouraged and seeking peace. He hopes to leave the camp soon and return to Chattanooga. The letter is dated October 2, 1864.
b) the envelope in which the letter was sent is addressed to Mrs. Lawrence. Her address, however, is unclear.
