Description This set is a collection of four newspaper clippings.

(a) appeared in the Chattanooga News-Free Press on Monday, October 7, 1968, a photo with the caption, "POLK COUNTIANS FOR POPE." Bill Pope was the Democratic candidate for the Tennessee Third District congressional seat.

(b) appeared in the Chattanooga News-Free Press on June 18, 1970, with the headline, "Roy Lillard To Be Listed 'Outstanding' ." Roy Lillard, a professor at Cleveland State Community College, had long been involved with several historical societies in Polk County.

(c) appeared in the Chattanooga News-Free Press on July 29, 1970, with the headline, "Baptist Historians Set Meet on Aug. 1." Pollyanna Creekmore of the Knoxville Public Library, a frequent correspondent of Elsworth Brown's regarding East Tennessee history subjects, was scheduled to be a guest speaker.

(d) appeared in The Chattanooga Times on February 14, 1971, a photo with the caption, "CLEVELAND STATE LEGISLATORS." Roy Lillard was the faculty advisor for the student government association at Cleveland State.
