Description Digitized invoice was to the Collins Brothers in Spring City, Tennessee, from the Stagmaier & Company in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the successor of Stagmaier & Fletcher. Stagmaier was a wholesale grocer. The date on the invoice is July 1, 1915. The invoice was an order for jar rubbers and the overall total was $1.42.

The owner, John Stagmaier, was an industrialist and civic leader in Chattanooga. He developed his own line of boxed flavoring extracts and vinegar; acquired the household remedies of local druggist, Dr. Thacher; and development the Up-to-Date brand of baking powder. He founded Tennessee Paper Mills, Star Box and Printing Company, Stagmaier & Co. and the Archer Paper Company. Stagmaier also helped organize the Standard-Coosa-Thatcher Company, Hamilton National Bank, Pioneer Bank, Lookout Boiler Manufacturing Company, Eureka Foundry and the Tennessee River Navigation Company.
