a-c) Carbon copy of two parts (Part 1: Botany, Part 2: Archeological Site) of a preliminary report to the Audubon Society on McClellan Island. Also has copy of a cover letter from Elsworth Brown addressed to Lou Williams, President; Robert Sparks Walker, Exec. Director; and members of the Special Committee on Chattanooga Island Development: Charles S. Dunn, Dr. Wilbur K. Butts, and Charles R. Page Jr. Letter is dated Oct. 21, 1954. Title page is titled "Observations, Notes, and Comments on the Preliminary Survey of Chattanooga Island of October 16, 1954."
d) Final report of the committee on development of the McClellan Wildlife Refuge (Chattanooga Island) dated January 9, 1955. It describes their previous survey of the island in October 1954. The report includes detailed descriptions of flora and fauna, history, flood data, archeological significance. The Committee's recommendation to the Audubon Society is that the island remain a wildlife refuge rather than be developed as an arboretum/park. Elsworth Brown contributed the extensive botany and archeological sections of the report.
