"Bessie Smith Finds a Home"- "The Bessie Smith Hall is to be a musical performance center designed to promote and advance local talents" "Tivoli Fundraising on Target"- discusses the plans that were to take place in the theatre and says that there was confidence that it would be successful. "Plans for Courts Building Underway"- City Judge John Taylor said that the city court building was, "considerably old and dilapidated."The total cost was estimated to be $12 million. "Racial Harmony Conference at UTC May 15 and 16"- the conference was sponsored by the Human Relations Task Force and was entitled: "The Power of Unity: Beyond Prejudice and Racism".
