Digitized invitation was sent on May 27, 1886, for the Chattanooga Turnverein Annual Steamboat Excursion on May 30th. Turnverein refers to a society founded in Germany, members of the Turners, which served as athletic, political, and social centers for German communities in different cities in the United States. The Chattanooga chapter was located at 622 Market Street. The cruise was going to be on the steamboat A.G. Henry, which was a Stern Wheel Steamboat built between 1880 and 1885. The invite advertised that there would be a band on the ship. At the end, it gave pricing for tickets: $1.00 for a family and 50 cents for a single person.
