Digitized letter from Captain M. C. Lawrence, Ordnance Officer of 121st Ohio Volunteer Infantry to Sergeant Colonel Henry B. Banning of 121st Ohio Volunteer infantry. Lawrence informs Banning that several wounded men and their arms have been brought to Chattanooga. Lawrence asks Banning if he is authorized to take the arms from the wounded and give them to his own men who will be on the front lines, and if so, how to properly document this transfer of property. After being respectfully forwarded and referred to other officers, Lawrence is informed by Captain Chief Porter of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry that this letter shall serve as a certified receipt stating that Lawrence has authority to give the arms to his own men.
