Digitized certificate certifying that Maecenas G. Lawrence is of good character and has qualified for admission to the bar, in Union County of Ohio. The certificate was written by a Clerk named Taber Randall and signed on August 20th, 1856.
"To All Whom It May Concern, Greeting:
These Presents Shall Certify that at a Term of the District Court of the State of Ohio, began and held at the Court House in the Town of Marysville in the County of Union in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Six Maecenas G. Lawrence an applicant for Admission to the Bar, appeared in open Court, and it being shown to the satisfaction of said Court that the said Maecenas G. Lawrence was of Good Moral Character, and in all other respects qualified, according to the Statute in such case made and provided, and that the said Maecenas G. Lawrence being thereupon sworn to support the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Ohio, and in all things to demean himself Faithfully and Honestly as an Attorney and Counselor at Law and Solicitor in Chancery; It was Therefore Ordered, That the said Maecenas G. Lawrence be admitted to practice as an Attorney and Counselor at Law and Solicitor in Chancery in the several Courts of the State of Ohio. In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Seat of our said District Court, at Marysville this 20th day of August, A.D. 1856.
