Description This is a sign announcing a change in the interest on savings accounts beginning July 1, 1942. The new interest rate on savings account was to be calculated and paid at the rate of 1% per annum. The sign explains that the change is in line with the action taken by conservative banks in other cities and is in accord with sound banking methods. The institutions implementing this new policy were the Chattanooga Clearing House Association, Hamilton National Bank, American Trust And Banking Company, and St. Elmo Bank and Trust Company.
