b) George tells Elsworth that the winter is unseasonably warm, he says that Elsworth's grandparents are not expected to live much longer and mentions the Spanish flu again. He says that they have not heard from DeWhitt or GHB for three months, and that their parents are frantic for news. George also says that he got a Christmas card from Quintine and a pair of socks from Vivian. He expresses his hatred for the Germans and hope that Elsworth will be able to come back to the States soon.
