Reprint of Congressional Record vol. 109 no. 47, Monday 1 April 1963. An extension of remarks of Bill Brock in the House of Representatives on the occasion of Chattanooga being awarded title of "All America City." Included are newspaper articles from Chattanooga News-Free Press and Chattanooga Times. Congressman Brock articulates the reason for the title being bestowed upon Chattanooga, "Chattanooga was born in adventure and has matured in times of turmoil and peace by using its greatest asset, its individual citizen, in an unrestrained determination to meet its own problems through sound and sensible action." Both newspaper articles emphasize the determination to solve problems, rather than any singular accomplishment. The endorsement by Chamber of Commerce President Desales Harrison and John Popham are lauded in both articles. The Chattanooga Times article, "The Chattanooga Story: Our Epiphany" emphasizes the aesthetic, economic, cultural, and governmental developments that made the title possible. It also notes that the desegregation of Chattanooga's schools occurred without incident or threat of incident.
