This slide, dated December 1974 and labeled "Fireman Fountain w Provident in background", depicts the Fireman Fountain which stands in the Courthouse Square in Chattanooga, TN. In 1887, the citizens of Chattanooga wanted to honor fireman who had fallen in the line of duty. J.L. Mott Company of New York, NY (the premier source for such an item at the time) was commissioned to create the fountain. The money to build the fountain was raised by a committee. In 2009, the fountain was restored.
