Photograph of the Engineer's Mill Written on back of photo: "Engineer's mill", and "Credit line: U.S. War Dept. General Staff photo no. 165-C-477 in the National Archives" stamped. According to James A. Hoobler (see Related Publications): "In order to build all of the structures the army needed in Chattanooga, it was first necessary to build a series of saw mills." This was a saw mill along the Tennessee River.
