Collection of negatives of street scenes around the Chattanooga area.
d) Negative, looking up Walnut Street from a parking lot located at approximately 6th Street and Walnut Street. The building with arched windows at the front-center of the image is the old Hamilton County Jail, which has since been torn down and is now a parking garage. The white building to the left of the old county jail is the Title Guaranty and Trust Company, which has been open at this location since 1925. According to the company website, it was the first title insurance company south of Philadelphia. Image taken by Paul Hiener circa 1955 - "Looking southwest from parking lot north of Court House." Hiener's additional note (see relations tab): "The Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company will construct, in the near future, a modern Home Office Building on this lot, which runs east on Sixth to Fifth Street, west on Fifth to Walnut street, south on Walnut Street to Sixth Street."
