Printing on back indicates photograph taken by Schmedling at Chickamauga Chattanooga National Military Park. Faded writing in pencil seems to indicate a date of September 1, 1898. Photographs in this collection were found in the basement of a house that had been owned by Bob Sherrill. He was a local photographer that worked for the Chattanooga News-Free Press and was official photographer for the fire and police departments. A number of the images are his, but he also collected old photographs.
