This slide, dated December 1974, is a photograph of the Blue Cross Blue Shield headquarters. It is also known as the "Gold Building" because of its gold, reflective windows. The 10 story building was designed by the famed Atlanta architect, John Portman, and opened in 1970. In September 2007, Blue Cross Blue Shield put the building on the market when they opened their new office building on Cameron Hill. In December 2010, it was sold to a company headed by Chattanooga real estate developers Ken and Bryon DeFoor for $6.15 million. The caption on the transparency reads, " Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Tenn. Bldg., John Portman & Associates architects-1971, 801 Pine St."
