Collection of negatives related to street scenes, specifically Market Street.
c) Negative, street view was taken looking north from 6th street looking North down Market Street in October 1955. The photograph depicts cars lined up and down Market Street and features many mid-twentieth century Chattanooga businesses. On the left side of the street there was Sears, which was located between Market and Broad on 6th Street. Beyond Sears was Peacock's Jewelers, Crisman Hardware Co. at 509-513 Market Street, and The Double Cola Co. located at 404-413 in the Ham Branch Building. On the right side of the street at the corner is the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga, part of the Tennessee Valley Authority, located at 536-538 Market Street. Beyond that is the Sterchi Brothers Store, which was located at 520-532-534 Market Street, the Capitol Theater, and the Osborn Furniture Co. Image by Paul Hiener.
