Description Photograph of Dalton Roberts in business suit. Mr. Roberts was the first Hamilton County executive. During his tenure his administration won over 100 national awards for excellence. He also is a musician, having over 80 songs recorded. By 1982, he created the Moccasin Bend Task Force along with Rick Montague. This organization would include city and county residents and the plan was to evaluate potential uses for the property. At the time, Moccasin Bend had over 900 acres of land and many developers were targeting the area but it was unclear as to who owned the property. A plan needed to be developed in order to decide how the land was to be used. Eventually the decision was made that the area should not be one for economic growth but it should become a state park. It was recommended that they focus on the entire riverfront area so as not to focus all resources on one area and draw development away from downtown. Roberts passed away in December 2015.
