James, was a key figure in the developing of the Signal Mountain community. The back of the postcard provides a description of the hotel and boasts its convenient access by streetcar and automobile despite the remote location. The publisher of this postcard was The Albertype Company. Postally unused. The Signal Mountain Inn operated under this name from 1913 to 1936, when the Alexian Brothers purchased the property and it became a convalescent home for boys and men, and in 1979 became Alexian Village retirement facility.
