Three photographs related to two "Bed Races," an annual charity event where runners ran a person in a bed through a street race. It is not clear which charity it used to benefit.
a) Handwriting on reverse indicates this was on Broad Street, September 21, 1981. Photograph by Rick Owens of the Chattanooga Times.
b) Dated October 2, 1982. Written on reverse: "Olan Mills passes finish line in defeat as they were beaten by Holiday Inn in the 4th heat." Photograph by Jeff Guenther of the Chattanooga Times. This was on Market Street as Woolworth's is visible in the background.
c) Dated October 2, 1982. Written on reverse: "Bob Boehm holds onto his bed which he will ride in the bed race. His team represents the Brass Register." The Brass Register was in the location that Jefferson's is currently occupying. Photograph by Jeff Guenther of the Chattanooga Times.
