Series of 18 photographs of Broad Street, mostly in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
a) Broad Street, looking for north from the intersection of 5th. The hills of North Chattanooga and Hill City are visible in the distance past the river. The John Ross building in the right background is at the intersection of 4th and Broad Streets. Part of Buehler's Market's sign is visible on the right as well.
b) Broad Street between 8th and 9th Streets [now MLK Boulevard], Chattanooga Federal and the Read House Hotel visible.
c) the 400 block of Broad Street. The building on the corner is 401 Broad Street and housed Lookout Sporting Goods, and this building now houses Five Guys.* The building next to that was a car dealership, originally Citizens Motor Corporation.
d) The 500 block of Broad Street at the intersection of 5th Street. Continental Trailways bus station visible, RC Cola in the distance. The view looks north on Broad toward 4th Street, as the buildings in c) are visible in this image as well.
e) "Broad at 4th", gas station, Otasco business visible. The label on the back is incorrect; this intersection is actually 5th and Broad Streets looking south. Otasco was located at 607-609 Broad Street. The large bank building in the background is located at 7th and Chestnut Streets. Commerce Union Bank was established in Chattanooga in 1975 and may have been based out of Nashville, Tennessee.
