King notation, "from Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga." Image taken before Riverfront Parkway construction. Image shows wooden homes with laundry lines out front.
The exact location of this image was taken from the end of the Walnut Street Bridge, at the corner of Walnut Street and First Street. The Hunter Museum mansion is in the background, seen between the larger houses in the background. The exact location was determined upon comparing the angle of the photograph to the geographic location in google maps, and comparing the location to the 1954 Sanborn maps. The map clearly shows two levels of "Dwellings" (referring to residential frame houses), which were between Lookout Street (which is not the same location as today , this would now be more like Riverfront Parkway) and Bluff View Avenue which used to curve around the mansion. See Sanborn map image attached.
