a,b) American Red Cross flags with Red Cross logo stitched on the center. Henry Durant, a Swiss citizen, proposed a plan to assist war time victims after witnessing thousands who had been wounded in battlefields. The logo originated in the late 1800s when the future International Committee of the Red Cross met to discuss this proposal idea. They found the red cross was universally recognizable and became the distinctive emblem at the First Geneva Conference in 1864.
The flag was made by Valley Forge Flag Co. in Spring City, PA. This company is family-owned and founded in 1882. These flags are likely from circa World War I.
